Angela Christine Argento, MD, recalls the impact that one of her many mentors, Dr Lynn Tanoue, had on her pulmonary and critical care training and how she currently manages patients with early non–small cell lung cancer.

In particular, Dr Argento cites the example provided by Dr Tanoue in how she would give patients her full attention, distilling their case down to the critical details in order to best address the concerns of each patient and help to ensure a good therapeutic relationship.
